MEET FACIAL & ORAL SURGEON DR. Hollabaugh
Dr. Brian Hollabaugh grew up in Blue Springs, Missouri, graduating from Blue Springs South High School, where his passion for surgery and medicine was cultivated at a young age. During his formative years, Dr. Hollabaugh was an active volunteer in Blue Springs at St. Mary’s hospital and shadowed local area surgeons. He then worked in the hospital on a surgical floor in Columbia, Missouri while attending and then graduating with a degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Missouri – Columbia.
Dr. Hollabaugh obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) at the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Dentistry and graduated at the top of his class. Dr. Hollabaugh then completed his Medical Doctorate (MD) at the prestigious University of Texas System’s Southwestern Medical School. Following medical school he completed a year of general surgery residency and additional training as a resident in the department of Anesthesia at both Parkland Hospital and Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. He completed a total of six years of specialty training in Facial and Oral Surgery in Dallas, Texas in what is widely considered to be one of the most elite residency training programs in the world.
Through residency training Dr. Hollabaugh had functioned in the role of chief resident of Facial and Oral Surgery at Parkland Memorial Hospital, Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, University of Texas Southwestern hospitals, Dallas Veterans Affairs hospital, and John Peter Smith hospital in Ft. Worth, Texas. Dr. Hollabaugh’s residency training was primarily focused on facial trauma, TMJ surgery, orthognathic jaw surgery, facial reconstructive surgery, oral, head and neck cancer, infection management of the mouth, face and neck, anesthesia, advanced dental implant surgery and bone grafting. Following residency he completed a one-year fellowship in Facial Cosmetic Surgery accredited through the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery at the well renowned Williamson Cosmetic Center and Perenack Aesthetic Surgery in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In addition to Dr. Hollabaugh’s training in facial cosmetic surgery he obtained additional fellowship training in hair restoration surgery. While in Louisiana he enjoyed working with his fellowship mentor Dr. Jon Perenack, MD, DDS in the training of LSU residents in facial cosmetic and hair restoration surgery.
Dr. Hollabaugh decided on a career in Facial and Oral Surgery because he enjoys the complexity of facial anatomy, uniqueness of procedures and the impact it has on patients’ lives. Whether cosmetic or reconstructive in nature, Dr. Hollabaugh finds personal satisfaction in using his artistic surgical skills to achieve his patients’ goals. He prides himself on being able to provide advanced surgery of the face, mouth and jaws to patients in a comfortable and safe manner. Dr. Hollabaugh has received extensive training in all levels of anesthesia, from administering local anesthesia, nitrous oxide, oral sedation, intravenous (IV) sedation as well as general anesthesia in the operating room setting. Dr. Hollabaugh’s background in medicine, dentistry, anesthesia and surgery allows him to customize a safe approach to providing excellent care for anxious patients requiring facial and oral surgery procedures.
After spending over a decade away from Kansas City pursuing his education, residency and fellowship training, Dr. Hollabaugh and his wife, Brittany, chose to return to his home town to serve the families and community which helped raise him and develop him into the person and surgeon he is today. Dr. Hollabaugh enjoys his work life balance, as he is a husband and father of two. In his spare time, he and his family enjoy spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks where his wife grew up. When unable to make it down to the “Lake” he and his wife enjoy taking their children fishing and hiking around the local lakes and parks in the Blue Springs and Lee’s Summit area. Dr. Hollabaugh is an avid Kansas City sports fan through both the good years and the bad. He has enjoyed his years spent in both Texas and Louisiana, but has always longed to bring his surgical skills back to his hometown community and the land of legendary BBQ. He looks forward to a career treating and caring for the people of our great city.
